Every novel has at least one theme or lesson which it aims for its readers to grasp. What are the lessons to be learned from the characters in
Hope was Here and
Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes? Are there similarities in the themes of these two books and the way each author attempts to convey that lesson? Explain.
I believe a theme in both books would be stand up for yourself and what you believe in. There are some branches off of this main idea. Such as, be true to yourself and others which I think is a strong subject throughout both books. In Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes, towards the end of the book Mark stands up for his beliefs and becomes true to himself and his classmates. While in Hope Was Here Braverman, Hope, and GT all stand up for GT in the election and spread truth throughout the town.
ReplyDeleteI think the lessons are that to stand up for yourself and accept new surroundings. Eric stands up for himself and Hope and people on G.T.'s side help stand up in the election and spread the truth.
