Waitressing is a metaphor for life in the novel. Explain what lessons Hope learns or teaches about being a good waitress and how those translate into being a good person.
While waitressing, Hope teaches that you should always try to see the good in people and have a good conversation with them even though they don't seem interested in anything you have to say. Hope teaches us that even the people that are depressed or angry can always be cheered up with a nice conversation and a good meal.
One thing that Hope learns from her mom while waitressing is to always carry a bottle of aspirin, in case a customer has a headache. That is something everyone should do to look out for other people when they need help. By doing that you show them that you care for them even though that it was not necessary. Also, you may get rewarded, in Hopes case she may have received a bigger tip, but for you you may be at a coffee shop and receive a free drink. Another thing is in Hopes case that they may have good experience and come back to the restaurant. Even though that it is not necessary it is a good thing to help someones day.
Hope has learned many things that help her at waitressing by her mom. Such as carrying a bottle of aspirin around in case someone has a headache. Hope also really tries to get to know people, by having good conversations with customers. This has taught her to be kind and thoughtful of others not just herself. By being nice to others, Hope has made many friends in her new town.
Hope learned, mostly from her mom, that to be a good waitress you should have a good personality and having "great hands". She also learned from her mom to always have a bottle of aspirin under the counter if a customer ever has a headache or a pain. She learns from experience to always respect the customer and if they look like they are not feeling well or are crabby, then try and cheer them up. All of those are qualities of a good, respectful person, and a person that people will like.
i think Hope has a weak relationship with her mom. She only sees her mom so often and when she does come to visit it Hope, Hope gets nervous. some of the good things hopes mom did for her was tell her how to be a good waitress and how to treat the people she is serving. Also she gave Hope to Addie because Hopes mom could not have taken care of Hope and her self. One of the worst things Hopes mom did was treat her like a waitress and not her daughter.
Most of Hope’s waitressing tips were given from her mom. One of the tips her mom gave Hope was to always carry around a bottle of aspirin, to show that you care about how that person or customer is feeling. Another is to treat customers with respect and being involved with conversations and just cheering them up. This can simply fit into people lives by respecting others, showing that you care, and making them have the best day can really make someone's day!
Hope always trys to make people open up and try new things. She starts conversations with people to try and find the goodness in them. Hope learns all of her tips from her mother like treating people with respect even though they can be mean.
Hope has taught herself many different helpful tips as well as from her mother and Addy. These tips like always keep a smile or treating people with a constant respect even though they might not deserve it, or other small bits and pieces ca n not only help in the job, but also just in general life
