Sarah’s scars are an outward sign of tremendous pain and suffering, both physical and emotional. But her classmates, for the most part, are not sympathetic to her plight. Why do you think people turn a blind eye to the suffering of others? Are there other characters who have inward scars? Are these easier to hide or ignore? Explain.
I think people turn a blind eye to other people's suffering because they don't really care because it's not themselves that is suffering. Jody Mueller also has and inward scar hers is easier to hide because not everyone knows about it. Also because she chooses most of the people who get to know about it because she has to tell them for them to know about it.
ReplyDeleteWhen people turn a blind eye to people who have outward scars or who are suffering I think they mean good. They try to show that they aren’t staring or acknowledging it. Sometimes people turn away to people who are suffering because they don’t want to be brought down by the other person’s suffering. Jody Mueller has an inward scar because she had an abortion. When people have inward scars it’s easier to ignore them because people can’t acknowledge them when they don’t know about them because inward scars are unseen. Inward scars can go away when the person gets over what they did or what happened to t them where as outward scars are there forever.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn a blind eye to the suffering of others because they are secretly glad that it's not them. Also, sometimes a disability or internal scarring can be seen as a weakness, and some people would think that being with them would bring them down. An example of another person who is inwardly scarred is Jody Mueller because she was forced into an abortion, and she had to do it alone. I would say that inward scars are harder to hide, because even though outward scars are always seen, after a while you get used to it and it doesn't bother you anymore. Inward scars stay with you for your whole life, and even though people say that it goes away when you forget or get over it, you never really do, it just stays there, and it’s harder to talk about. Outward scars, depending on where it is, can be covered up or you can have reconstructive surgery, but inside, you can't do that. Sometimes, you won't even know when a person is scarred inwardly, and little things that you do could set them off because you don't know what's wrong. A lot of people think that it’s easy to get over something or someone, but in reality, it’s really hard to forget. Inward scars are the ones that stay with you forever.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn a blind eye to the suffering of others because 1: they don't know the person's story and 2: because they don't want to admit that bad stuff can happen. Jody Mueller has an inward scar because she had an abortion but not everyone knows about it because there are no physical scars; hers are invisible, emotional scars. These types of scars are just as difficult to hide as physical scars because people have to pretend or act like they don't exist. Jody will always see the scars because she knows what happened. Inward scars never go away and you always have to cary them around.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn a blind eye to the suffering of others for a number of reasons. First, because they feel they don't need to help them or support them. Second, it is easier to turn a blind eye because it could possibly affect their popularity. Yes there are other characters who have inward scars, Mark Brittain and Julie Burns, Sarah's mother. Mark Brittain's inward scar is the guilt over making his girlfriend, Jody, have an abortion while in the class he publicly opposes abortion. Julie Burns' inward scar is she still regrets not taking Sarah with her to Reno. Instead she tries to take her life because of it. The inward scars are easier to hide from others because you can cover them up with lies or your beliefs. But in the end I think they are difficult to ignore.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn a blind eye on other peoples suffering because they don't understand how painful that suffering is because they haven't experienced it for themselves. People also turn a blind eye because they don't want to put the effort into helping them or making them feel better. In this book there were several others who also have inward scars such as Jody because she had to have an abortion. The reason that is an inward scar is because she had to go through that alone without any one's support and she felt horrible and regretted it afterwards. Another person who has inward scars was Mark Britain because the way he was raised he only had one point of view on things and once he realized that his point of view was wrong he tried to kill himself. I believe that these are easier hide because hiding something like pain is easier than ignoring it because ignoring things like this could just make it harder to handle.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn a blind eye towards other peoples suffering because its not their problem and they would rather not get involved. Other people that have inward scars are people like Jody Mueller. Her scar is easier to hide though, because it is more emotional than physical. Her scar doesn't need to be seen or told, that is why it is easier to hide.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn a blind eye to the suffering of others for many reasons. For one, everyone has problems, and people tend to put themselves first. They think they are too busy to deal with other's problems as well as their own, so they ignore the suffering around them. Also, people may turn a blind eye because they haven't seen anyone do differently, and they want things to be fair. "Why should he get sympathy but not me? No one helped me so why should I help you?" People could reason. But deep down, I think people ignore it because they are glad it's not them. How many times have you thought "Better you than me?" The character with the most obvious inward scar would be Jody Mueller. She was talked into having an abortion but then went in to have it alone. On top of all that, she ended up believing it was her fault any of it had happened. Inward scars like Jody's are much easier to hide, but they are so much harder to ignore. Inward scars may be invisible to others, but they can pop into thought at any time, triggered by anything.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn a blind eye towards the suffering of others partly because they don't want to spend the time to figure out what is wrong or actually help the person. I also believe people do this because they don't completely understand the pain that person is going through and they wouldn't know what to do or say about it so it is just easier for them to ignore it. I think the character with the biggest inward scare is Judy Mueller because she was convinced to get an abortion and then had no support while doing it and she will remember what she did the rest of her life. I think inward scars are easier to hide because people can't acknowledge them if they don't know what happened, so you can also choose who knows about it. But I believe these scares are the hardest to ignore because it will be something that is stuck in your memory forever and you have to carry them with you for the rest of your life.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn a blind eye to others because the don't care about them or because its not them who is suffering. Jody Mueller had the best inward scar because she was convinced into an abortion and then she realized it was just her doing it. She also thought it was her fault that it all happened. Her scar is easy to hide because it is hard to find out about it.
ReplyDeletePeople turn a blind eye to others who are different or who are displeasing to the eye because what they see brings themselves pain. We don't want to think of what their going through because it doesn't make us feel good on the inside. People also look away because they don't want or may not feel like putting themselves in their shoes and trying to help them through what is going on. Jody is a example of a character who has a inward scar which is easier to hide then others. Her "scar" is that she had a abortion and she cant live with the decision she had made, it eats her alive on the inside and makes her cry daily. It is easy for her to hide this because it is an emotion she can control, so when people see her all they can see is a pretty girl with a perfect life.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn a blind eye to others problems for multiple reasons. First, they don't want other people to judge them for going out of their way to help someone considered 'uncool'. They don't want people to start treating them like that person. So, they think it's safer to turn a blind eye to others. A person who had an inward scar is Jody Mueller. She has an inward scar because she was forced into getting an abortion, and she had to do it by herself. I think inward scars are harder to hide because for a physical scar you can have surgery to correct it, and you will get used to it. But, an inward scar never completely goes away.
ReplyDeletePeople ignore the suffering of others because they would rather not feel connected to someone who is suffering. If they were connected to someone who was, they would try to fix it, which might cause the friends of the people who try to help to think differently about them. Another reason people ignore the suffering of others is that they think there is no reward for helping people who suffer. Characters that have inward scars include Mark Brittain, Jody Mueller, and Sarah Byrnes’s mother. Mark and Jody had to live with the fact that Jody had an abortion and that it was their child. They both believe in God a lot, and go to the same church, so they are scarred when they do something against the Bible. Sarah Byrnes’s mother is scarred with the fact that she did not have the courage to help or stand up for Sarah when her husband burned her. These scars are easy to hide because they have no physical form, and until people get to know the emotionally scarred person, that person will either have to live with the scars or confess their pain.
ReplyDeletePeople turn a blind eye to suffering because when it is not someone they care about they just let it go like they aren't even there. Only Eric and Dale know Sarah Byrnes's story, so they care for her more than Mark or Jody would. But Sarah Byrnes isn't the only suffering in the story, look at Mark Brittan. He has such a tight rein on himself that he can't do anything without thinking what could go wrong or what the consequences may be. It even made him try to kill himself. Jody also has inward scars, but she held them in better than Mark could. Jody had an abortion for Mark, but Mark was so ashamed of what he had done he made Jody go in by herself and leave by herself. This has caused her to hold in guilt and sorrow because Mark kept telling her it was her fault. Jody could hold this in better than Mark because she wasn't so strict on herself. Everyone in the book has some example of scars whether they held it in or showed it.
ReplyDeleteI think that people turn a blind eye to things like Sarah's face because Sarah isn't very popular. If someone would be seen with Sarah, they would be considered to be just as "unpopular" as Sarah was, even if they used to be the most popular person around. A lot of characters in this book have "inward scars". One example is how Dale Thornton's dad basically neglects Dale. There are other cases of things like this. Sarah's Mom ran away from the byrnes family. Also when Mrs. Lemry was a child her baseball coach neglected her and took her very special glove and gave it to the pitcher. Things like this are very easy to hide because you can just deny that scar and lie about it as well. Before Mark Britian attempted suicide, he did this.
ReplyDeleteI think that people turn a blind eye to pain and suffering because they could not imagine what someone like Sarah at their age is going through. I think in general why people turn a blind eye to others pain is because they care about others and do not want anyone to suffer. An example of a character with inward scars in Dale Thornton because his father ignores him and did not care about him when he was a child, so Dale was taught to be mean and he ended up bullying others. I think these scars are easier to ignore because not everyone knows about them and keep reminding you of them.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn a blind eye to suffering because they are just glad it didn't happen to themselves. Also, because the more they notice the pain, the more pain they feel emotionally. People usually don't want to get involved with pain, so instead of helping, they turn a blind eye on the injured. Jody Mueller also has an inward scar. She was left alone to get an abortion. Inward scars are easier to hide than physical scars, because not everyone can see their pain. The suffering they go through, is optional to tell others, but everyone can see physical suffering.
ReplyDeletePeople turn a blind eye to obvious suffering because it's simply easier than approaching it. Jody definitely has some inward scarring seeing how she was abandoned to get an abortion on her own, then listen to Mark preach against it so passionately. Emotional problems can be easier to hide, but the more you bottle them up, the worse they get.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn a blind eye to other people's suffering because it isn't affecting them directly. Since Sarah isn't popular not as many people care about her. They also don't know what it is like to be like Sarah and they don't want to imagine it. Jody is one character who has inward scarring because she had to get an abortion all alone. Inward scars are easier to hide because nobody has to know about what you're dealing with. When you hide the inward scars, it's easier to pretend you don't have them.
ReplyDeletePeople ignore it because they do not want to remind the person with the wound that they have it. If I had an outward sign of pain, I would not want to receive special treatment and that I why I think people turn a blind eye to her suffering. Other characters, like Eric, have scars that are hard to hide but easy to ignore (obesity). Jody Mueller's scar is that she had an abortion which I think is easy to hide but hard to ignore because there is nothing she can do and she has to think about for the rest of her life and that is hard to ignore. I believe that Jody's is the worst because she can not do anything about it and has to live with it for the rest of her life.
ReplyDeletePeople turn a blind eye towards other people's suffering because their used to it. In Sarah Byrnes' case, she has been with the same group of kids all through school so her classmates are used to it. Other characters with inward scars include Mark Brittain, Sarah's mom and Eric. Mark Brittain is associated with this group for making Jody Mueller get an abortion so his image wouldn't be ruined, easy to hide hard to ignore. Sarah's mom is included in this group because she has to live with the guilt of leaving Sarah with Mr. Byrnes, easy to hide but probably hard for her to ignore. And Eric for being obese, easy to ignore hard to hide. For the people who don't have scars or problems, it's best to ignore the scars and treat the person normally.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn their backs to the suffering because they feel there is a bad person inside or that they are from a bad background and cannot be helped. This is not fair to that single person. They may no be able to help it just like Sarah who could not control the terrible situation at a young age with her parents. She cannot reverse what her dad did and she will always know that. I think most people have inward scars but because they are inward scars others may never know. Just like Dale Thorton who may seem like a bad kid but once you get to know him he really isn’t all that bad like Sarah and Eric found out later on. You can also not tell from looking at Dale that his father beats him and treats him very unethically. I think it’s easier to hide these “inward scars” because it may be hard for the “owner” of the scars to tell others what really happened. It may also seem much easier to lie for those people. Just like how Sarah never told anyone what her dad really did before she was 16.
ReplyDeleteI think that people turn a blind eye to the suffering of others, because they are being selfish and because they aren’t the ones that are suffering. Besides Sarah Byrnes, there are other characters that have inward scars, such as Jody Mueller. Her inward scars are her suffering of being pushed to the choice of abortion. I think inward scars are easier to hide or ignore, because you are the only one who knows about them.
ReplyDeleteI think that people ignore the pain and suffering of others because the person is unpopular or disliked, because they aren't the ones in pain, or because the bystander doesn't want to get involved with the other person's problems. Other characters who have inner scars are Jody and Eric. Speaking from personal experience, I feel that inner scars are the tiniest bit easier to hide, but are about as easy to ignore. The reason why I think so is because for people who aren't told about the suffering and scars, it's harder to detect hidden pains, but you can ignore how others seem to feel as easily as you can ignore the person or their looks altogether.
ReplyDeleteI think that people turn a blind eye to suffering others because they think that it is just the easier thing to do. They don’t know what they can do to help them so they don’t even try. Others also could be scared because they have never had to face such pain and they are afraid that they might not be able to help the person get what they need. Two characters that have inward scars are Jody Mueller and Mark Brittain. Jody has an inward scar because she had an abortion and she has to deal with that for the rest of her life. Mark also has to live with the fact that he allowed Jody to have an abortion and that he didn’t even come with her when she went to the clinic. Another inward scar that Mark has is that he tried to commit suicide because no matter what happens he will always know what he did. Although these characters scars are inward that doesn’t mean that they are easier to hide or ignore than people that have outward scars. For people with outward scars anyone who stares or acts different around them makes them feel bad about themselves, but for those with inward scars there are things everywhere that will remind them of what happened. This makes it just as hard for either people with inward or with outward scars.
ReplyDeleteI think the people turn a blind eye to people who are suffering because they are easier to ignore than to deal with. Some people may want to help but their friends don't so they just stay clear. I think that the two people who have the biggest inward scars are Mark Brittain and Jody Mueller. Mark has to always be the perfect example of the perfect person all the time. Because of all the pressure Mark tried to commit suicide. Jody has to live with the fact that she had an abortion and had to do it alone. The inward and outward scars are both painful, some are just easier to hide than others.
ReplyDeleteI think that people turn a blind eye to suffering others because they don't want to make the person who is suffering feel worse. I think that people are not sympathetic to Sarah Byrnes scars because they don't understand how she feels and how sad she is inside. Jody Mueller has the biggest inward scar in the book because she has to live with knowing that she had an abortion, and had to go through with it by herself. She didn't want anyone to know about it so she could never talk about it to people, unless she trusted them one hundred percent. Both inward and outward scars are hard to live with and are very painful but some scars are easier to hide.
ReplyDeleteI think that people turn a blind eye to suffering others because they don't think what there going to say before it's to late and the damage is done to that person. People are not kind enough to Sarah Byrnes scars because they don't know they're hurting her on inside because on the outside you can't by her scars cover her emotions. Jody Mueller to me has the biggest inward scar because she had an abortion and had to let it go herself. I think its easier to hide because fewer people know it's not like a big public announcement its a personal problem. Not like mark Brittans attempt of suicide that was like a big virus that u can't stop.
ReplyDeleteI think that when people turn a blind eye toward someone else it is because they are thinking of the other person’s feelings. They don’t stare because than it makes it seem like you think they are different instead of just passing by like normal. When you look at someone’s scars or other injuries it makes you feel bad on the inside. Jody Mueller has an inward scar with the abortion that I believe is harder to handle than an outward one because only she knows about it and can’t really tell anyone. Eric has an outward scar but he is fine that people think of him as fat and he is good at dealing with it, even though he has gotten skinnier, people have gotten used to it. In conclusion, outward scars are easier to deal with than inward scars.
ReplyDeleteI think people show a 'blind eye" toward the suffering of others because inside they are glad that it is not them that is suffering. They are glad it is not them and they don't want anything to do with it so they just ignore it. Jody Mueller has "inward scars" because she had an abortion. I think this would be a little easier to hide than Sarah Byrnes's scars because Jody can just choose not to tell anyone, and Sarah whether has to say what happened or lie.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn a blind eye toward people who are suffering because its not them who's suffering. Maybe people don't realize how much others are suffering. Jody has inward scars because of her abortion. Inward scars are easier to hide because they can't be visible seen. Sarah's scars show that something burned her, but its not obvious that Jody had an abortion.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn a blind eye because they don't really care about that person or they don't know them that well. People don't see how others are in pain or how hard it is to keep it a secret. Jody has inward scars because of the abortion. I feel like it's easier for Jody to hide it because its not very noticeable and she can choose to tell people about it. For Sarah its hard for her because you can see it when you look at her and its hard to tell people. Both Sarah and Jody have a hard time facing people because of their scars. Either way its hard for them but they can choose to tell the truth or lie.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn a blind eye to suffering people because they don’t really know how to help them, because they are not in their situation. When people see them they want to help them, but they really just don’t know how to and feel like they will make them suffer even more. I believe Eric has many inward scars because all through grade school he was bullied for his weight and his father leaving him. Since Eric became so used to the bullying whenever someone would call him a name he would just brush it off. Also I think Jody has inward scars because of her past. She will always feel as if she made the wrong decision by not keeping the baby when it was not her fault. I think these scars are harder to hide from people that don’t know you or your personality, but they are harder to hide from people that know you to well or yourself.
ReplyDeleteI think that most people turn a blind eye to others suffering is because they want to help or do something but they don't want to seem uncool by talking to that person, or it freaks them out too much to do anything. It also probably makes them feel better about themselves by just saying "I'm glad that isn't me" and they don't wanna even try to help them because it isn't their problem. I believe Eric also has inward scars because he struggles with his weight and gets made fun of. He doesn't show it on the outside but inside the words keep appearing in his head and his emotions get messed up. Inward scars are easier to hide/ignore because if someone asks if your okay you can just say "i'm fine" and blow it off when really your not fine and your hurting on the inside.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn a blind eye to the suffering of others because they feel that the person doesn’t belong or fit in with anybody. When people see a person with some type of a disorder or problem, they usually leave them alone and never figure out what kind of a person they are. I think a character who has inward scars is Mark Brittain. Mark is a very religious person and he stands up for what he believes in. Mark also has very high expectations for himself, and when things don’t happen the way Mark wants them to, he goes a little crazy. But Mark’s inward scars are easier to hide rather than physical scars. On the outside, Mark seems like an average teenager, and you can’t see his inward scars. Sarah Byrnes has physical scars on her face that everybody notices when they look at her.
ReplyDeleteI think most people turn a blind eye to the sufferings of others because it may be an easier way instead of getting into their business and trying to help them, another reason may be because they don't think they need to help because its not themself suffering. An example of another person who is inwardly scarred is Jody Mueller; she was forced into an abortion that she had to go through alone. In my opinion, I think inwardly scars are just as hard to hide as physical scars because if people don't know about them then you are on your own and you're physically and emotionally affected.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn a blind eye to people suffering for a number of reasons. People may not acknowledge suffering because they simply don’t care or they are glad that’s its not them. Also they may bring back bad memories for those people. Jody Mueller has inwards scars because she was forced to have an abortion. I think inward scars are not as hard to hide because they can go away or you can put on a fake smile but outward scars are going to be there forever.
ReplyDeletePeople turn a blind eye on suffering because for some people they don't no what it feels like to suffer a lot or sometimes when people have suffered they are scared of it and run away. I think the character Dale has inward scars because he has to deal with a dad that is always being terrible to him. He doesn't hide them very well because he takes out his suffering on people that are smaller and weaker than him. Also he tries to act cool to cover his suffering up.
ReplyDeleteI think that people act like they don't care because they are scared and they don't know what to do help them. They are afraid that they won't be able to help and might make things worse. Jody Mueller has inward scars too but her's are easier to hide because not many people know about it.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn the blind eye because it hurts them too. They don't want to know that there are bad things happening in the world around them, they want everything to work out for them, and Sarah's scars show to them that the world isn't the most perfect thing ever. I noticed that Mark Brittain had bad scars. He has been pressured his whole life to follow the work of God and never do bad things because then you will go straight to hell. His dad even admitted it, that he had "taught" Mark to be a God FEARING Christian. Mark just felt so much pleasure, he collapsed.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn a blind eye to a person that’s suffering because they are glad that it’s not happening to them. I also think people do that because they are selfish and don’t care what others are going through so then they don’t care about anyone else and put themselves first. A character with the best inward scar would be Jody Muller. She thought she was convinced into having an abortion but really it haunts her inside every day and she had to go into it alone. Her scar is more emotional than physical so it’s easier to hide.
ReplyDeleteI think that people turn a blind eye for many reasons. First, they aren't the ones suffering. Second, they don't want to seem 'uncool' for talking to certain people. A character with inward scars that I noticed the most would be Judy Mueller. She was forced into abortion and had to go through with it alone. I think that inward scars are easier to hide and ignore because nobody knows about them except you.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn a blind eye to the suffering of others because they don’t see the pain and sometimes don’t know what to do to help. A physical scar on the outside doesn’t always mean pain. I think people sometimes don’t ask because they want to accept the person for who they are and don’t want to keep pointing out the outside scar. If you just look at person you cannot always see how that person is suffering. For example in the story Jody has the pain from an inward scar of guilt for having an abortion. Mark is suffering pain from the guilt of asking his girlfriend to have an abortion and not being by her side. Inward scars are easier to hid and more difficult to see.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn a blind eye to the pain and suffering of others because they don't know how to help. Physical scars are scars that everyone can see, so they treat you differently. Inward scars aren't visible and can be hidden from others. In the book Jody had a inward scar from the abortion, but no one knew about until she told about it. Inward scars are easier to hide, but they are still hard to ignore.
ReplyDeletePeople turn a blind eye to the pain and suffering of others because one, they don't care, or two they don't understand how to help. And I think that Jody inward scars because being forced to have an abortion is very hard to go through. I think that inward scars are a lot easier to hide, because you can just fake the pain that you're having. Where as outward scars are hard to hide because they will be there forever, and they are on the outside so you can't hide them as easily.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn a blind eye to the pain and suffering because they might not know how to approach them, and in the end be a lot easier than helping them. Jody has in inward scar from having an abortion, making it a rough time to go through. Inward scars are very hard to ignore when your the person who has them, but are very easy to hide knowing you can fake how you feel and act. Outward scars are very hard to hide knowing people can see them.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn a blind eye to a person that is suffering, because they do not know what to say or may not know what it feels like to have to suffer in that certain circumstance. Also, they might not know the person and do not want to go up to them and ask them whats wrong. They might think it is none of their business. A character that I thought has inwardly scarred was, Jody Mueller. I thought she was inwardly scarred, because she went through her abortion by herself, without the help of Mark Brittian. I think that a inward scar is easier to hide, because you don't have to tell anybody about your scar. It can be a secret that know one needs to know. Further, an inward scar is easily hidden, because know one can visually see that scar. A person might see that you are sad, but you can just say your okay and deal with it yourself.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn a blind eye to others suffering because it shows that it can happen to them and it makes them nervous. It also probably makes them feel so bad for them that they don't even want to deal with it, that they just want to forget about it. Jody and Mark both have inward scars, Mark knowing what he did to Jody and Jody actually having an abortion. I think inward scars are easier to hide because, for example, if a person walks past you on the street that doesn't know you would not know if you had an inward scar, but they probably would know if you had an outward scar.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn a blind eye to the suffering of others because it shows that it can happen to them and it makes them nervous. I think it may also be that they don't know what to do for the people suffering. Jody Mueller has an inward scar, knowing she had an abortion. I think inward scars are easier to hide short-term but harder to hide long-term. What I mean is, it would be easier to hide an inward scar from an unknown person walking past you on the street, but you will probably end up telling someone close to you later in life.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn a blind eye to those suffering because they're not the ones suffering and they don't no what that person is experiencing. Another reason is they don't know how to talk to or treat the people that are suffering because they might get nervous that they might say something bad. Joey Mueller is a great example of a inward scar because she was forced to have a abortion. A abortion would be very hard to hide considering it would be a huge event in your life.
ReplyDeleteI think they turn a blind eye because they don't want to get involved in their own worlds. Yes, Jody had a lot of inward scars. Mark made her have an abortion when she didn't want to and then treated her cruelly. Not only did Mark lie, but he made sure Jody lied as well so he could protect his reputation. I think inward scars are just as hard to deal with. Even if you try to hide them, they will eventually come out.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn a blind eye to those suffering because, they don't know what its like to be in that much physical and emotional pain. They have not experienced what they are facing and don't know their story. Jody Mueller had an inward scar that she kept to herself, that was her abortion. Mark lied about the abortion and said Jody was lying. He made her have an abortion when Jody wanted to keep the baby. Just for Mark to stay a cool kid. I think it starts out easier to hide, but then it gets harder as you move along in life to keep it a secret. I think that eventually you will start telling people and then eventually many people will know.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn a blind eye to people who are suffering because they don't know what it is like or they don't want to get mixed up in it. Another person in the book who has inward scars is Eric because he was made fun of when he was little. I think both types of scars are about the same because you think about inward scars and you see outward scars.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn a blind eye to suffering people because they either don't care or it's not them who are suffering. An other character known as Jody Mueller has inward scars. She was forced by her own boyfriend to get an abortion. I personally think it's easier to hide or ignore inwards because nobody cares and you are the only one that sees them.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn a blind eye on the suffering because they just don't know. Sometimes they don't know what really happened and sometimes they don't understand it. A character that has an inward scar would be Mark Britain. Not until he announced it and made a suicide attempt did anyone know how much pain he was in. I can only imagine the guilt someone in his position would feel.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn a blind eye because they don't want to know about the pain and suffering, and just want to think there isn't any. People have pain and suffering of their own and they don't want to to feel other people's suffering. Another reason is I think not everyone knows or realizes another person is in pain or is suffering. I think Jody Muller has inward scars too. One of which is the apportion she had. Jody's are a lot easier to hide and only a couple people know about them. Another person that I think has inward scars is Dale. His dad is very mean to him and he does not have a mother. Dale hides his by acting tough and beating up other kids when he was in school.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn a blind eye to those with clear and suffering problems because they don't want to judge and make their problems worse. There could also be a flip-side to that statement because people could turn a blind eye to those suffering because they don't wanna help them or be around them. I also think that people who have inward scars could have a harder time hiding them because of their actions. For example like Dale, who hides his at-home problems by being mean to others, and physically hurting other kids.
ReplyDeleteI think people turn the blind eye with others that have suffering problems because they do not want to be rude or they are to selfish. Someone that I think that has in inward scar is Dale, because he trys to hide his old man problems by hurting kids inside and out.
